          Arup Mahata is a computational materials chemist, based in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya (University of Burdwan) and National Institute of Technology Durgapur, respectively. After that, Arup finished his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Indore, where his research focused on computational modelling of materials for energy conversion and storage applications. Then he moved to Italy for his post-doctoral study at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and CNR-SCITEC Perugia. During his post-doctoral phase, he worked on one of the most promising semiconductor materials (halide perovskites) of present times for optoelectronics applications. He has published more than 80 papers, including high-impact journals like Energy & Environmental Science, ACS Nano, Nature Communications, Journal of American Chemical Society, ACS Energy Letters, Advanced Energy Materials, Materials Today, Materials Horizons, ACS Materials Letters, Chemistry of Materials, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, among others. His publications have received over 4000  citations, with a Google Scholar h-index of 36 and i10-index of 66.
